FIXING JURY IMAGES

JURY SLIDE PHOTOGRAPHY

Examples of my jury slide photography

I started out shooting rock concerts and then sports in the early to mid 1970's (turned 61 this year) and spent the next twenty years shooting stock for The Image Bank. I started doing art shows around 1976 and figure that I've easily done over a thousand shows. To keep things in prospective, there's a picture of my 1978 booth on this page.

ZAPP started in 2004 and I'm responsible for the 1920 pixel square format that displays all jury images the same size. Since then I've done workshops on preparing images for jurying and I've worked on jury images (scanned slides or prepped digital files) for over 2,500 artists. I still get images to work on every day and even get an occasional set of 35mm slides to scan.

Finally after only doing about five shows over the past four years I sold my van (but kept my display) last May and no longer apply to shows. I monitor all the art show forums (including the ZAPP forum) and answer all questions about digital images, photographing art work and about ZAPP or JAS, the two digital jury systems. I also send out a monthly jury tips newsletter.

For the past two years I've been photographing artwork for artists and shooting pictures of my puppy:
