DISCUSSION RULES (POSTING DOs & DON'Ts)
* SUBJECT MATTER: All posts should be related to the subject matter of
this list, i.e., any topic related to the process of photography,
creating, printing, or marketing at art shows. Advertisement of related
equipment is also acceptable.
* When replying, please edit your messages properly. This means
eliminating extraneous material (headers, footers, signature lines, etc.).
DO NOT use excessive quoting, which means do not include the entire
original message (if long) in your reply to the group. If you must refer
to something to make your response clear, then cut and paste only that
which is necessary and relevant; DELETE anything else you are not
specifically responding to. Conversely, keep SOME remnant of what you are
responding to for clarity.
* Always create or repeat an appropriate title in the subject header.
If possible, try to repeat the same subject line if the topic is the same.
This helps people scan for messages in the list's archives. If the subject
shifts or changes, change the subject line to reflect the new topic.
***NOTE: If you're on Digest mode, do not reply without creating a new
or repeating subject line.*** Otherwise, your reply will be headed:
"Digest Number XYZ." IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU NEVER EVER return an entire
digest back to the list by simply hitting the "Reply" button. This is a
major faux pas. You must select and cut out the specific post within the
digest that you are responding
to. Posts that contain entire digests will be deleted as we only have
so much space for the forum on Yahoo groups.
* Try to keep your comments concise and to the point. If posting a long
message, use a warning at the top of the message or in the subject line.
* Conversely, do not post one line "thank you" messages. Send them
privately to the person you're thanking. Try to add something to the
discussion.
* Please identify yourself and use a signature on all posts. (But don't
write a novel; keep sigs short and sweet -- 4 lines max.)
* If you're planning to be away from your computer or out of your
office for an extended period, and you are using an auto-responder, PLEASE
set your list options to "no mail" before going away. This will prevent
the list from being inundated with your auto-reply messages again and
again.
* If you use a permission-based e-mail system or "white list," please
configure it to accept list messages.
* Personal attacks, "flaming" (insulting), foul language, messages
intended to mock or intimidate are UNACCEPTABLE for this list. Let's keep
the discussion civil and friendly.
* Political or religious statements are also inappropriate for this
forum.
* Be aware of the Terms of Service (TOS) of Yahoo!Groups with regard to
copyright and ownership of all posted material. IMPORTANT NOTE: In
connection with this group, you may *NOT* post, e-mail, transmit or
otherwise make available any content that infringes any patent, trademark,
trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any party.
* Please limit "cross-posting" (post the same message simultaneously to
multiple groups). It confuses people and invalidates the time and effort
they may go to in responding. You can always refer to other lists (or any
other on-topic subject), of course, but, as a courtesy to all, try to keep
messages and responses here focused on THIS list. (Announcements are
slightly different; use your best judgment and try to tailor the message
to this group's interests.)
A NOTE ABOUT LIST ENFORCEMENT
You will be warned publicly or privately for inappropriate behavior as
outlined above. Subsequent violations will result in your being put on
moderated status, unsubscribed from the list, and/or banned from rejoining
the list.
